Bod 2012

The page was gessoed and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist. I messed with it some and then sprayed it again and added Perfect Pearl spots. Just threw them on... the fiber patches are Bernie Berlin's fused fiber technique. ( That involves laying down a piece of paper or cardstock, laying a piece of fusible webbing over it, putting down your fibers, topped with a couple more strips of webbing and sprinkled with embossing powder. Put the "sandwich" between non stick craft matting and iron on cotton setting. The whole shabang will melt together. When cool, peel off the craft sheet) Purposely, I didn't make these patches "pretty". Nothing's pretty about waiting for test results about your child.

January 21 and 22, 2012

This double page background is gessoed with tissue paper over it, then covered with matte medium. The glass mirror is a magazine picture with part of the glass made transparent with packing tape. (Secure packing tape on the image and wet the back and rub gently until the back paper is gone. The ink from the front will remain.) The lady is printed on transparency. The words are stamped and the music is torn from a vintage book and distressed.

Looking Forward-Book of Days 2012

This page I used some of the existing graphics in this 1919 book. The page color is done with chalk and then sealed with fixative, then stamped. The tag is patterned card stock. I took a strip of this cardstock and made a transparent "tape" with it to attach the tag. The binding was reinforced with ribbon and then chalked over.
To make a tape transparency, pick a piece of patterned cardstock or any graphic that was laser printed. ( Inkjet printing is another whole matter).
Apply a piece of clear packing tape and bray it down so that it's tight. Soak the piece in water until the paper on the back rubs off easily. Volia!! a transparency.

Book of Days 2012

This is the cover of my Book of Days 2012 with Effy's group... This is my first serious, major, altered book. I have helped my grandson with one, but he really did it himself.
My word of the year is " Acceptance"... The book will center around accepting what happens in life, the things I can change, and the things I can't. It's great therapy!!! Even the beginning has proven refreshing. I hope to keep blogging about techniques used in this epic..
The cover of the book is acrylic paint, medium, napkin, feather, fabric, and mullbery paper.
